{"id":93,"date":"2015-05-21T23:38:52","date_gmt":"2015-05-21T23:38:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/soan347.coolsociology.net\/?page_id=93"},"modified":"2019-05-05T18:14:29","modified_gmt":"2019-05-05T18:14:29","slug":"pecha-kuchas","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/soan347.mcguire-spickard.com\/?page_id=93","title":{"rendered":"PechaKuchas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>PechaKucha<\/strong> is a presentation style in which 20 slides are shown for 20 seconds each (six minutes and 40 seconds in total); these slides auto-advance behind the speaker, who speaks directly to the audience.\u00a0\u00a0 The format keeps presentations concise and fast-paced.\u00a0 It also engages the audience as few other presentation styles can.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the rules for the <strong>full <\/strong>presentation version:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Your presentation will last exactly 6 minutes and 40 seconds.<\/li>\n<li>Your presentation will use PowerPoint, because Keynote and Google Presentations are harder to time accurately. Submit your slides in advance on Moodle, so we don\u2019t waste time loading them to the classroom desktop.<\/li>\n<li>You will use 20 slides plus a title slide. No more, no less. Period.<\/li>\n<li>Each slide except the title slide must be set to auto-advance after 20 seconds. No clickers, no exceptions.<\/li>\n<li>Your presentation must follow the <a href=\"http:\/\/chronicle.com\/blogs\/profhacker\/challenging-the-presentation-paradigm-with-the-115-rule\/32691\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">1\/1\/5 rule<\/a>:\n<ul>\n<li>You must have at least one image per slide;<\/li>\n<li>You can use each exact image only once;<\/li>\n<li>You should add no more than five words per slide.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You will use images that you have taken yourself for the field trip presentations.\u00a0 You will film stills \u2013 taken by screen capture \u2013 for the film reviews.<\/p>\n<p>You should not attempt tell us everything that you might say in a written paper nor explain every nuance of your argument. Instead, you should be looking to give us an overview of the project and highlighting its particular strengths.
